Frequently Asked Questions
About SIM Branding
What does SIM Branding do?
We customise the right products with your logo and handle everything around it: design, sourcing, customisation and delivery. That covers souvenirs, apparel, uniforms and branded merchandise, at any order size, anywhere in Australia and New Zealand. We also import and wholesale souvenirs and apparel. We've been doing it since 1926.
How long has SIM Branding been in business?
Founded in 1926. That makes 2026 our 100th year, and close to a century of jobs behind us, from community clubs fundraising range to nationwide customised tourism. Whatever your project turns up, we've probably handled something like it before.
Where is SIM Branding based?
Tasmania. Our team and showroom are at 24 Merino Street, Kings Meadows TAS 7249, and we supply customers across Australia and New Zealand. Visit the showroom by appointment to see samples in person, or work with us remotely from anywhere.
Is SIM Branding an Australian owned business?
Yes, and has been since 1926. SIM Branding is part of Sim Crawcour Pty Ltd, based in Tasmania and supplying customers throughout Australia and New Zealand.
What makes SIM Branding different from other suppliers?
Most wholesalers outsource their creative and customisation work. We keep it in-house. Our design and customisation happen under one roof, so one team carries your job from first sketch to final delivery, with close to 100 years of practice behind them. It's the difference between a printer and a partner.
Who does SIM Branding work with?
Businesses, tourism operators, schools, councils, sports clubs and not-for-profits. Some want a single batch of shirts. Others hand us their whole uniform or souvenir operation to run year-round. Either way, we start by working out what you actually need.
Can I visit or meet the team?
Yes, by appointment. Give us a call or email and we'll set up a time at the Kings Meadows showroom, with samples ready for you to see and handle. We're also more than happy to come to you where we can. Not local? We're just as easy to deal with by phone, email or the website.
Product Customisation
What branding and customisation methods do you offer?
A full range: embroidery, direct-to-garment (DTG) printing, sublimation, laser engraving, direct-to-film (DTF) printing, pad printing and screen printing. Much of it is done in-house, and for specialised jobs we bring in trusted production partners. Once you've chosen your products, we'll tell you which method suits them best.
What's the difference between embroidery, printing and engraving?
Each suits a different material. Embroidery stitches the image into fabric for a tough, premium finish, which is why it's the go-to for polos, caps and uniforms. Printing methods, from screen printing to DTG, sublimation, DTF and pad printing, handle detailed or full-colour designs across garments and hard goods. Engraving cuts the image into hard surfaces, from drinkware, pens and awards to hardwood pieces like wooden pens and multi-tools, so it never wears off. Not sure what yours needs? We'll sort that at the quote stage.
Which branding method is best for my product?
Leave that to us. We'll ask the right questions and recommend the method that shows your vision off best on the product you've picked. You don't need to know the technical side.
Can you match my exact brand colours?
We'll get as close as we can, using the Pantone Matching System (PMS). It's the standard printers use to keep colour consistent across different runs and machines. Send the PMS codes from your brand guidelines and we'll match them, though the final result can vary a little depending on the material we're printing on. Don't have your codes? We'll work them out for you.
Can you brand small or detailed logos?
Usually, yes. Very fine detail can be tricky on some products or methods, but our team knows how to get a clean result. If your logo needs a tweak to reproduce well, we'll spot it and fix it before anything is made.
Do you handle customisation in house?
Much of it, yes. We run our own embroidery and printing gear on site, so most jobs stay under our roof with quality checks at each step. For specialised work or a tight deadline, we'll bring in trusted production partners, and we manage that end to end so it's one point of contact for you.
Artwork, Design and Proofing
What artwork files do you need from me?
A high-resolution PDF or EPS of your logo is ideal for most methods, since both stay sharp at any size. Not sure what you've got? Send it over and we'll tell you if it'll work.
What if I only have a low-resolution logo?
Send it anyway. Our design team can often rebuild or clean up artwork so it prints well, and we'll let you know if that's needed before you commit to anything.
Can you help prepare or fix my logo for printing?
Yes. We don't design logos from scratch, but getting your existing logo production-ready is part of the job, not an add-on.
Will I see a proof before my order goes ahead?
Always. You'll get an artwork proof showing the design, colours and placement, and nothing goes to production until you've signed it off. Your lead time starts from that approval, not before.
Can your team help design merchandise if I don't have artwork ready?
Yes. Refining an image, choosing products, working out where the branding should sit: our in-house creative team can pick it up from wherever you're starting.
How Ordering Works
How does the ordering process work from start to finish?
Four steps. We consult on what you need, your budget and your timing. We design the artwork and send a proof, refining until it's right. You approve it, and the order goes into production. Then we deliver, across Australia or New Zealand, and keep your details on file for next time.
How do I place an order?
Every order starts with a free quote, requested through your cart at checkout (nothing is charged) or by email. We then send an artwork proof to approve, and once you've signed off and settled payment, your order goes into production. Happy to talk it through by phone too.
How do I get a quote?
Add what you're after to your cart and head to checkout. No payment is taken, checkout just sends your request through to us, and we'll get a quote back to you within one working day. Prefer email? Send sales@simbranding.com.au the product, rough numbers, how you want it branded, where it's going and any deadline.
What do you need from me to quote accurately?
Five things help: the product, the quantity, your branding, the delivery address and your deadline. The more of that you can give us, the tighter the quote. Missing a few? We'll ask.
Can I order a sample before committing to a full run?
Yes. If it's something we stock, we're happy to get a sample to you. If it's a new or third-party item, we can order one in for you to check first, at cost, and we can usually put that cost towards your order if you go ahead. For apparel, we'll also send sizing charts so the fit is right before you commit.
Can I reorder something I've had before?
Easily. We keep your artwork and order details on file, so a repeat run matches the original without starting over. For regular reorders, we can set up a program to manage stock and top-ups for you.
Minimum Orders, Quotes and Pricing
Is there a minimum order quantity?
It depends on the product and how you'd like it embellished. Some items come in small quantities, others need a larger run. Tell us what you're after and we'll give you the minimum for that item.
Can I order just a few items?
Often, yes, though small runs work a little differently. Much of the cost sits in set-up, preparing artwork and setting the machines, and that's the same whether you order ten or ten thousand. So on very small orders the per-item price is higher, and there may be a set-up fee. Order more and that cost spreads out, bringing the price per unit down.
How much does custom branded merchandise cost?
Because branded work is custom, we quote each job individually rather than show a fixed price, and the quote is free. What you pay depends on the product, the quantity and the branding method, and quantity is the biggest lever: the more you order, the less each item costs. Tell us what you have in mind and you'll get a real price to work with, not a guess.
Are prices shown with GST?
Prices are quoted exclusive of GST unless otherwise specified. GST, Australia's 10% goods and services tax, is then shown on your quote and invoice, and any delivery cost is set out there too so the total is clear.
Lead Times and Deadlines
How long will my order take?
Around 2 to 4 weeks from the day you approve your proof. The exact time depends on the product and embellishment method, and anything made overseas can take longer, we'll flag it if so. Working to a date? Tell us early and we'll build the timeline around it.
When does the clock actually start?
At proof approval, not when you first enquire. Artwork and sign-off is the stage with the most back-and-forth, so the sooner that's done, the sooner your order is locked in for delivery.
Can you rush a tight deadline?
Sometimes, so always ask. Give us the date up front and we'll tell you straight whether it's doable and what we can do to move faster.
Uniforms and Workwear
Do you supply uniforms and workwear?
Yes, and it's a big part of what we do. We kit out teams across hospitality, tourism, retail, education, corporate and industrial workplaces, from a handful of branded polos to a full staff uniform. Tell us the roles you're dressing and we'll match the right gear to the job.
Can you brand hi vis and PPE?
Yes. We supply branded workwear and personal protective equipment from leading Australian and international brands, so your team can be safe, compliant and on-brand at once. Logos go on most items by embroidery or print, depending on the garment.
Can staff try uniforms for size before we order?
Yes, and it's worth doing. We can usually provide sizing sets or sample garments so people find their fit before you commit to a full run, and we'll send sizing charts for anything we can't get in front of you. Getting the sizes right up front saves reordering later.
Can you set up and manage uniforms across a whole team or several sites?
Yes. We handle everything from a single location to complex, multi-site rollouts, and we keep your artwork and specs on file so every reorder matches the last. For bigger operations, we can set up an ongoing program so topping up is simple as staff join or gear wears out.
What uniform and workwear brands do you carry?
Plenty. We stock trusted names like Portwest, Syzmik, JB's Wear, Biz Collection, Biz Corporates, AS Colour, Aussie Pacific and Winning Spirit, among others. Already wear a particular brand? Tell us and we'll source it. If you're not fussed, we'll point you to what fits the job.
Tourism, Souvenirs and Retail Merchandise
Can you create custom souvenirs for a tourist attraction?
Yes, it's one of our specialties. We build custom souvenir ranges for visitor attractions, museums, wildlife parks, ferry operators and destinations across Australia and New Zealand. Whether it's a small line for the gift shop or a full retail range, we design and source it around your place and your visitors.
Can you design merchandise we sell only at our venue?
Yes. We can create exclusive ranges that can't be bought anywhere else, so your merchandise stays unique to your attraction. It's a good way to stand out on the shelf and keep what makes your brand yours.
Can you develop a souvenir range from scratch?
Yes, from concept to shelf. Our in-house team can take an idea and turn it into a designed, sourced, ready-to-sell range, whether you know exactly what you want or just have a theme in mind. We handle the product development, so you don't have to.
Do you supply wholesale souvenirs, and manage the stock?
Both. We supply wholesale souvenirs for resale, and we can manage the stock behind them, with replenishment programs, sales reporting and inventory control. That keeps your best sellers on the shelf without you watching the numbers.
Do you make Tasmanian souvenirs and have your own ranges?
Yes. Alongside custom work, we have our own ranges, including Tasile, Southern Habitat, and our Tasmanian souvenir and Memento collections. They're a quick way to stock quality local product, and we can brand or tailor them for your venue.
Delivery and Returns
Where do you deliver?
Right across Australia and New Zealand. We ship from Tasmania through our logistics partners, with plenty of experience getting orders to the mainland and across the Tasman on time. Wherever you are, we'll get it there.
How much does delivery cost?
It depends on the size of the order and where it's going, so delivery is worked out per job and included in your quote where possible. If any extra shipping applies, we'll set it out clearly rather than spring it on you at the end.
Can you deliver to several locations in one order?
Yes. Multi-site deliveries are something we handle regularly, so if you need one order split across branches, stores or sites, we can sort the logistics. Just give us the addresses and quantities for each.
Can I return custom-branded products?
Because most of what we make is custom branded to your order, returns generally aren't possible unless there's a fault or manufacturing issue. It's worth checking your proof carefully before you approve it, since that's your sign-off on the final product.
What if my order arrives faulty or incorrect?
Let us know within 7 days of receiving it, and we'll sort it out, usually by exchange or account credit where it applies. Get in touch with the team as soon as you spot the problem and we'll make it right.
Payment and Terms
What payment methods do you accept?
Bank transfer for now, with card payments coming soon. We'll send payment details with your quote or invoice, so you know exactly how and when to pay.
When do I need to pay for my order?
Payment is due before production starts, unless you have an approved credit account with us. Once your proof is approved and payment is sorted, your order goes into production.
Do you offer accounts or credit terms for businesses?
Yes. We can set up customer accounts for businesses that order with us regularly, which makes ongoing ordering simpler. Have a chat with the team about what's involved.
How long is my quote valid for?
30 days from the date we issue it. Prices can shift after that, mostly because product and material costs move, so if you're close to deciding it's worth locking in within the month.
Is there anything else I should know before ordering?
A few things worth knowing up front. Prices are quoted exclusive of GST unless we say otherwise. Delivery may be added if it isn't already in your quote. Your lead time starts once you've approved the artwork and we have all the details. And if anything arrives faulty, let us know within 7 days. Nothing unusual, just clear.
Industries and Sectors
What industries do you work with?
A broad mix. We supply hospitality, tourism, retail, education, corporate, industrial, government, sports and community organisations, from small local outfits to large operations. If your team, company or event needs branded product, chances are we already work with someone in your field.
Do you supply government departments and councils?
Yes. We work with government departments, councils and public sector organisations, and we can handle the paperwork side too, including procurement and tender requirements. If there's a process we need to follow, tell us and we'll fit in with it.
Can you help with tenders and procurement?
Yes. We're used to supplying under formal procurement and tender arrangements, so we can provide the documentation, pricing and detail those processes ask for. Send us the requirements and we'll work on them.
Do you supply schools and education providers?
Yes. Schools, colleges and other education providers are a regular part of our work, whether it's uniforms, event merchandise, leavers apparel for graduating students, or fundraising and promotional items. We can work within school budgets and timelines, including the busy back-to-school stretch.
Do you work with sports clubs and community groups?
Yes. Clubs, associations and community groups come to us for team apparel, merchandise and fundraising items, often in smaller runs. Whether you're kitting out one team or a whole club, we're happy to help.
Do you supply construction, healthcare and hospitality businesses?
Yes. These sectors often need branded workwear, uniforms and PPE that stand up to daily use, and that's squarely what we do. We'll match durable, compliant gear to the job and put your branding on it.
Do you work with not-for-profit organisations?
Yes. We support not-for-profits with merchandise, apparel and fundraising items, and we know budgets are often tight. Tell us what you're trying to achieve and we'll find an approach that works.
Sustainability and Ethical Sourcing
Do you offer sustainable or eco-friendly products?
Yes, and the range keeps growing. We can point you to products made from recycled, organic or more responsibly sourced materials, across apparel, drinkware, bags and more. Let us know it matters to you and we'll build your options around it.
Where do your products come from?
A mix of local and overseas suppliers, chosen for quality and reliability. We care how products are made, so ethical sourcing and fair labour are part of how we choose who we work with. If you need specifics on a particular product's origin, ask and we'll find out.
Can you recommend lower-impact options for our merchandise?
Yes. If cutting waste or environmental impact is a goal, we can steer you towards durable, reusable or recyclable products and away from throwaway items. Merchandise that actually gets used, rather than binned, is the more sustainable choice anyway.
Can you help us meet our sustainability goals?
Often, yes. If your organisation has sustainability targets or reporting to think about, we can help choose products and suppliers that support them. Bring us the goal and we'll work out how the merchandise side can back it up.
Stock Management and Ongoing Programs
Can you hold our stock and handle reorders?
Yes. We can store your branded product and manage reorders, so you're not sitting on boxes of stock or scrambling when you run low. When you need more, it's ready to go.
Do you offer ongoing merchandise or uniform programs?
Yes. For organisations with regular needs, we set up programs that keep your uniforms or merchandise consistent, stocked and easy to reorder, run after run. It takes the admin off your plate and keeps your branding the same every time.
Can you manage stock levels and replenishment for us?
Yes, with a bit of teamwork. We can track the stock we hold for you in our warehouse, flag when it's running low and replenish on an agreed schedule, so popular lines don't run out. For stock that's already left us and sitting on your shelves, we'll need you to share your sales or stock figures, since that's the only way we can see what you've got left. Give us that and we'll keep everything topped up.
Can you report on stock and usage?
Yes, on what you've bought from us. We can pull together your purchase history, like a summary of everything you've ordered over the last 12 months, so you can see what you're buying, plan budgets and avoid over-ordering. What we can't see is your own sales, so anything about what's actually selling would need to come from your figures.
Service Area
Do you only work with Tasmanian businesses?
Not at all. We're Tasmanian and proud of it, but we supply customers right across mainland Australia and New Zealand. Our roots are local, our reach isn't.
Do you supply businesses in Hobart, Launceston, Devonport and the North West?
Yes, across all of Tasmania. Wherever you are in the state, from the west coast to the south east, we can supply and deliver, and Tasmanian clients are welcome at the Kings Meadows showroom by appointment.
